Important Next Steps After Your Purchase
Once you’ve purchased Google Workspace, follow these steps to get started:
-
Connect Your Domain:
Google Workspace requires a connected domain to function. Make sure your domain is active and linked to your Jimdo website. Whether you’re using a Jimdo domain or an external one, ensure it’s live. Detailed instructions can be found in our help center. -
Allow Time for Activation:
Once your domain is connected and verified, it may take up to 24 hours for Google Workspace to be fully activated. You’ll receive a confirmation email as soon as your email address is ready to use. -
Domain Verification:
After connecting your domain, you’ll need to verify it in your Google Workspace account. This step is required to activate your professional email address. Use our step-by-step guide to complete this process. You can use the instructions from our article: How do I connect my Jimdo domain to Google Workspace?
How to Change the Email Address in the Google Admin Console
The default email address info@yourdomain.com can be updated in the Google Admin Console. Here's how:
-
Log in to the Google Admin Console:
Use the login credentials provided in the email you received after purchasing Google Workspace. -
Go to Directory > Users:
In the Admin Console, navigate to Directory and then click on Users to view all user accounts. -
Change the Email Address:
- Hover over the existing email address info@yourdomain.com and click on Rename user.
Adding Additional Alias Addresses
Your Google Workspace plan includes one primary email address. However, you can create up to 30 alias addresses for free. Alias addresses are alternative email addresses that forward all emails to the same inbox. For example, you can create aliases like support@yourdomain.com, hello@yourdomain.com, or sales@yourdomain.com to organize incoming emails by purpose or department. Here’s how to add them:
- Log in to the Google Admin Console.
- Go to Directory > Users and click on the email address of the user for whom you want to add an alias.
- On the following page, click Add Alternate Email Address.
- Enter the desired alias, such as support@yourdomain.com, and save the changes.
Alias addresses allow you to manage multiple email addresses for different purposes without needing additional inboxes.
