If your payment did not go through or your website is still offline after paying, this guide helps you resolve the issue quickly. You will learn the most common reasons for failed payments and how to update your payment method to reactivate your website.
Why do payments fail?
The most common reasons a payment does not go through are:
- Your card has expired or the details have changed
- Your bank required 3D Secure verification but it was not completed
- There were insufficient funds at the time of the charge
- A SEPA direct debit was disputed or blocked by your bank
- Your card issuer blocked the transaction for security reasons
- The payment was blocked directly by PayPal
If your payment via PayPal does not work, Jimdo cannot see the exact reason. In this case, please contact PayPal support directly to resolve the issue.
How to update your payment method and retry
- Log in to your Jimdo account at dash.e.jimdo.com
- You will see a notification about your open invoice
- Click View invoice or Pay Invoice
- Select Update payment method and enter your new payment details
- Complete the payment and follow any verification steps from your bank
What happens after I pay?
Once your payment is confirmed, your website is automatically reactivated. This usually happens within a few minutes.
This only applies if your website was temporarily blocked due to the failed payment.
In some cases, it can take up to 24 hours depending on your bank.
You do not need to take any further action.

If your payment was successful but your website is still offline after 24 hours (and it was previously blocked due to the failed payment):
- Check your bank statement or receipt to confirm the payment
- Contact Jimdo Support
- Include your payment confirmation so the issue can be checked quickly
