Generally speaking, when it comes to optimizing a website for search engines (SEO), we can only give recommendations. Even SEO experts are not absolutely certain or agree on every aspect that touches on the topic of optimizing website content. The following recommendations should not be viewed as a definitive method and they do not guarantee that your website will rank high on Google. Rather, they reflect our opinion on effective means of optimizing a website for Google.
How should I proceed when writing my text?
When writing text for your website, it should be clear that the text is written for people, first and foremost. Meaning your text should be clear to understand and adhere to a more "natural" writing style. Often, it can be helpful to forego keywords when writing text.
Nevertheless, having keywords in your text is essential if you want your website to be found on Google if someone is typing these words in the search bar. This means that the important keywords for your website should appear in text and headings. This is especially true on the starting page of your website.
A website for a Lebanese restaurant can only be found using those terms if Google "recognizes" that this is a Lebanese restaurant. Using this example, these two keywords are the minimum requirement.
What do I do now to place my keywords?
After writing your text without focusing on keywords, you should proofread it again and swap out words for relevant keywords where it fits. You could rewrite a text specifically for keywords, like using The interior design experts in central London instead of Interior designer in the city center.
Structuring texts and headings
This topic has different angles and approaches. One safe method is to use only one large heading (H1) per page. This is going to be the overarching topic that the page is dealing with. For example, the texts on a page could be separated like this:
H1 heading ("About our local office in Hamburg") Text H2 heading ("From humble beginnings to a bright future") Text H3 heading ("But everything worth doing comes with a lot of challenges") Text H2 heading ("A nice view, albeit cloudy") Text and so forth
You can change the text type on your Jimdo website by clicking on your text first and then on the icon for different font sizes (Style). Choose between normal text, large heading (H1), medium heading (H2) and small heading (H3).
