With the FAQ Block, you can present frequently asked questions on your website in a clear, structured, and search engine friendly way. Instead of using long text sections or List blocks as a workaround, you now have a dedicated content element built specifically for this purpose.
What is the FAQ Block
The FAQ Block is a dedicated content element for structured question and answer content.
It allows you to clearly separate questions and answers and display them in an expandable layout. Each question can be opened individually, keeping your page clean and easy to scan, especially on mobile devices.
Why a dedicated FAQ Block matters
In the past, Text or List blocks were often used to simulate FAQ sections. This frequently resulted in long text heavy sections, poor mobile readability, unclear hierarchy, and inconsistent formatting.
The FAQ Block is designed specifically for answering anticipated customer questions. You can focus on what questions visitors might have, what objections they may need resolved, and what information supports their decision.
This improves clarity, builds trust, and increases your conversion potential.
SEO and AI visibility benefits
The FAQ Block does more than improve layout. It uses structured data based on the official FAQPage standard from Schema.org.
Please note: The automatic generation of structured FAQPage markup is available only for customers with a paid plan.
This provides important SEO and AI visibility advantages:
- Your content becomes machine readable for search engines.
- Search engines can clearly understand question and answer relationships.
- Your page is better prepared for enhanced search results.
- Your content is optimized for AI driven search and answer systems.
When at least one valid FAQ item is present on a published page, structured FAQPage markup is automatically generated in the background. You do not need to add any code.
Important:
- FAQ content must be visible on the page.
- Each question must have exactly one answer.
- Structured data must match the visible content.
While structured data does not guarantee higher rankings, it significantly improves how clearly search engines and AI systems can interpret your content.
This increases your chances of appearing in rich search results, being used in AI generated answers, and improving answer relevance for search queries.
How the FAQ Block works
Each item in the FAQ Block consists of a clearly formulated question and a corresponding answer.
By default, a new FAQ Block contains 5 questions. You can expand the block to include up to 10 questions per FAQ Block.
If you want to add more questions:
- Move your mouse over an existing question.
- Click the copy icon.
- Edit the duplicated question and answer.
This allows you to quickly scale your FAQ content. The structure encourages concise, focused answers instead of long form text. Visitors can open only the questions that matter to them.
You can also use multiple FAQ Blocks on one page if needed.
How to add an FAQ Block
- Log in to your Jimdo account and choose the desired website
- Click Edit Website to enter your Jimdo website’s edit mode
- Hover over the content area and click on Add Block
- Select the FAQ Block from the block library.

The FAQ Block is available in the sidebar and may also be recommended during editing.
Best practices for strong SEO impact
To maximize the SEO and AI benefits of your FAQ section:
- Use real customer questions.
- Include relevant keywords naturally.
- Keep answers clear and concise.
- Avoid overly promotional language.
- Answer specific, searchable queries.
Well structured FAQs can capture long tail search traffic and improve topical authority for your website.
FAQ
What is the difference between a List Block and the FAQ Block
The FAQ Block is specifically designed for structured question and answer content. It supports expandable layouts and automatically generates search engine compatible structured data on paid plans.
How many questions can one FAQ Block contain
By default, an FAQ Block contains 5 questions. You can expand it to include up to 10 questions by duplicating existing items.
Do I need to add technical code for SEO or AI visibility
No. For customers on a paid plan, the structured FAQ markup is generated automatically when your page is published. Free plans can add FAQ content, but structured data for enhanced discoverability is not automatically generated.
Will this guarantee better rankings
No structured element can guarantee rankings. However, structured FAQ content improves how search engines and AI systems understand your page, which supports better visibility.
Can I use multiple FAQ Blocks on one page
Yes. You can add multiple FAQ Blocks and structure them as needed.
Why is structured FAQ markup only available on paid plans
The automatic generation of structured FAQPage markup is part of Jimdo’s SEO features, which are included in paid plans. When you use a paid plan and add FAQs to your website, the structured data is created automatically to help search engines like Google and AI tools better understand and display your content. Free plans can still use the FAQ Block, but their content is not automatically enhanced with structured markup for improved discoverability.
