If you think someone has gained unauthorized access to your Jimdo account, secure your device first and then change your password immediately. Check your account for email addresses or changes you don't recognize. If you can't regain access or still need help, contact Jimdo Support.
At Jimdo, logging in to your account is only possible using your stored email address and your password. In very rare cases, a third party may gain access to your account, for example if they obtained your password, without immediately changing or removing your email address.

When this article applies
This article is intended for situations where there are indications of unauthorized access to your Jimdo account. A compromised account usually means that someone else was able to log in using your password.
Important: Being able to reset your password means that your login email address is still linked to your account. However, it does not fully rule out that someone may have accessed your account before. Always review your account and website for changes you did not make.
Signs of suspicious activity
- Changes to your primary email address that you did not make
- Additional email addresses added without your consent
- Password changes you did not initiate
- Security alert emails from Jimdo about account changes
- Unwanted modifications to your website or account settings
Check your device for malware first
Before changing your password, make sure that the computer or device you are using is secure.
Important: If your device is infected with malware, changing your password will not secure your account. The new password could be captured immediately. Run a full scan with up to date antivirus or anti malware software and remove any detected threats before you continue.
Change your password immediately
If you suspect unauthorized access and are sure your computer is secure, the first step is to change your password immediately. Use the last known email address linked to your account to reset your password: Reset your password.
Detailed instructions are available here:
Important: Once you can log in again, check which email addresses are linked to your account. Go to Manage your Jimdo account and make sure that only email addresses you recognize are listed. Anyone with access to these email addresses can request a password reset.
Emails for security warnings
We notify you by email whenever important changes are made to your user account. If you receive such a message without having made the change yourself, take action immediately.
| Security warning | What to do |
|---|---|
| Primary email address changed | Log in to your account to reverse the change. If this is not possible, contact support. |
| New email address added | Change your password and remove any unknown email addresses from your account settings. |
| Password changed | Reset your password again immediately to secure your account. |
