Every new, published Jimdo website is accessible via the free *.jimdosite subdomain. If you are using a Jimdo premium plan, you can use your own domain instead. Below you can learn how to register your domain.
Register your domain
Important:
Your domain is not registered automatically.
You must actively register the domain in your Jimdo dashboard or confirm the registration to complete the process.
Note on special characters
We recommend avoiding special characters such as å, ü, ñ, á when registering a domain. Domains containing special characters are converted into Punycode. This means all special characters are converted into the ASCII character set, which is limited to 128 characters.
For example, tëstwébsite.com will be converted to xn--tstwbsite-e4as.com.
Please note that we do not support the special character ß.
- Log in to your Jimdo account and choose the desired website.
- Click on Website Builder > Domains in the left menu.
- Under New Domain, click Search.
- Choose one of the suggestions or click Browse more options to enter your preferred domain.
- Click Select next to your chosen domain.
- Fill in the registration form completely.
- For non country specific domains such as .com, you will receive an email with a verification link. Click this link within 14 days to complete the registration.
The registration process is usually completed within 24 hours. Until then, your domain will appear in your dashboard with the status Pending.
Notes
- Certain general rules apply when registering a domain. These owner regulations depend on the responsible registration authority, for example ICANN for *.com, *.net, and *.org domains or Denic for *.de domains.

- If you would like to register a second domain for your website, you can find more information here: How can I register a second domain for my Jimdo website?
