In this article, you’ll learn how to upgrade or downgrade your Jimdo plan. It explains how to switch to a higher plan, how downgrades work, and what changes you can expect for your website.
You can upgrade your plan at any time to access more features. Downgrades are also possible, but they only take effect at the end of your current subscription term.
Upgrade your website
- Log in to your Jimdo account
- Click on Projects at the top right
- Click on Actions and choose Upgrade for the desired website
- Pick the plan that suits your needs or click on Explore Add-ons if you'd like to add a specific feature to your premium plan, then choose your add-on
- Fill in your billing address and choose a payment method
- Read and confirm our terms and conditions and our privacy policy
- Finalize your order
- Done! Your upgrade will be confirmed and you can use the new features immediately!

Downgrade your plan
You can downgrade your Jimdo plan to a lower tier at the end of your current subscription term. Downgrades do not take effect immediately and will be applied on your next renewal date.
When can I request a downgrade?
You must request a downgrade at least one month before your subscription renewal date. For monthly subscriptions, changes can be made up to one day before the next renewal.
If you miss this deadline, please contact our Support Team. Late requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
What happens after downgrading?
When you switch to a lower plan, you will lose access to features that are not included in that plan.
Before confirming your downgrade, make sure to review which features are included in your new plan.

This may affect:
- Number of pages and storage space
- Online Store features (if switching from a store plan)
- Add-ons linked to your current plan
- Custom domain connection (depending on the target plan)
How do I request a downgrade?
Downgrades are currently not available directly in your Jimdo account. To request a downgrade, please contact our Support Team.
Your current plan and all features will remain active until your renewal date.
What happens to my add-ons?
When requesting a downgrade, let our Support Team know if you want to keep or remove any add-ons. Some add-ons may not be compatible with lower plans.
Switching back to the free plan
If you are on the lowest paid plan (Start) and want to switch back to the free plan, this is handled as a cancellation.
- Your website will stay online with a free .jimdosite.com domain
- It will run on the free plan
- Paid features will no longer be available
