If you wish to maintain specific services, such as email accounts, through your external domain host, domain forwarding is a viable option. To do so, you require a premium plan, allowing you to forward your domain to your Jimdo website.
1. Adding your domain
First, add the domain to your Jimdo website:
- Make sure that you’re logged in to your Jimdo account and choose the desired website
- Click on Website Builder > Domains in the left menu
- Click the Forward button at the bottom
- Enter your domain and click on Next
- Copy the information under CNAME or Nameservers (DNS) to create the forwarding
2. Managing domain settings
Go to your domain's host and make the necessary changes to the settings with one of the following methods :
CNAME | Nameservers (DNS) |
Choose a CNAME forwarding if you utilize external services, such as email accounts, with your current provider |
Choose Nameservers (DNS) if you don't use any external services with your current provider |
We generally recommend using a CNAME forwarding over Nameserver forwarding. This ensures that essential services remain accessible through your domain host.
Notes
- Please note that we do not support forwarding via A-Record
- You can use up to three domains with a Jimdo website: two internal (hosted at Jimdo) and one external domain that you forward to your website.
