Do you want to update your VAT ID or fix an invalid VAT ID message? In this article, you’ll learn how to update your VAT information and what details must match official records so your VAT ID is accepted.
Updating your VAT ID
- Log in to your Jimdo account and choose the desired website.
- Click on Plan & Billing on the left
- Scroll down to the Billing Information section
- Click on Edit and update your details, including your VAT ID
- Click on Save changes
Important: To be tax-exempt, your VAT information must exactly match the official registration. The following fields are checked:
- VAT ID must be a valid active EU VAT number
- Company name must match the registered business name
- City must match the registered city
- Postal code must match the registered postal code
If one of these details does not match, your VAT ID may be rejected.
Changes take effect immediately and apply to future invoices. Open or past invoices are not updated automatically. If you need to update an existing invoice, please contact support.
Invalid VAT ID
Jimdo regularly checks whether your VAT ID is valid using the European VIES system.
If your VAT ID fails validation, it will be automatically removed and you will receive an email notification.
In this case, make sure that all required details match your official VAT registration. Then add your VAT ID again by following the steps above.
Where else should I update my information
Your VAT ID is used in several places on your Jimdo website and in your online store. Make sure to update it everywhere:
