Would you like to temporarily make your Jimdo website inaccessible? With maintenance mode, you can edit your website without having to take it offline entirely.
What is “maintenance mode”?
Maintenance mode — also known as “Under Construction”- is a state in which a website is not yet fully developed or ready for public access.
If you are planning on making significant changes to your website, then you can consider placing your website on maintenance mode for a set period of time. By doing this, your visitors will see a temporary page with a message informing them that the site is being worked on and will be available soon. This message should include an estimated date for when the website will be available again.
Creating a maintenance mode page
There isn't a specific one-click feature available to activate maintenance mode on your Jimdo website. However, you can create your own page by following these steps:
- Log in to your Jimdo account and choose the desired website
- Create a new subpage named Maintenance page or similar
- Add the text that will be visible to your visitors
- Hide all the other pages within your navigation menu
- To display the Maintenance page, it must be the first page in the navigation. Therefore, move the page to the first position: Click on the arrow cross icon and hold it down to drag the page to the top position. Release it once the page is in the desired position.
- Don't forget to publish your website to make the changes visible to your visitors
Unpublishing your website completely
If you prefer to take your website offline entirely, please read tour article detailing the steps to unpublish your website and important considerations to keep in mind:
