With Bookings at Jimdo, you can offer bookable events on your website and manage all details directly when creating each event.
What are events in Bookings
Events allow you to offer bookable dates for multiple participants. They are ideal for courses, workshops, seminars, or other group activities.
You define all event details individually, including availability, booking options, and limits.
Preparation
Before creating an event:
- Log in to your Jimdo account
- Select the website you want to manage
- Open Bookings from the menu
You can manage unavailabilities in the settings. All other details such as availability, booking times, and locations are defined when creating each event.
Choose your event type: Fixed session vs. Open slot
Every event you create is one of two types. Understanding the difference upfront makes the rest of the setup much faster.
Fixed session
Use a Fixed session when you set a specific date and time yourself, and clients sign up for that session.
Good for: courses, workshops, group classes, webinars
- You decide exactly when it happens — clients just sign up
- Several people can book the same session, up to your seat limit
Open slot
Use an Open slot when you set your general availability, and clients pick whichever time within it suits them.
Good for: 1:1 appointments, consultations, individual services
- You define the hours/days you're free — clients choose their own slot
- Each slot is typically booked by one client at a time
Quick comparison
| Fixed session | Open slot |
|---|---|
| You pick the exact date and time | You set your available hours |
| Clients sign up for that session | Clients pick a time that works for them |
| Multiple people can join the same session | Usually one client per slot |
| Best for courses, workshops, classes | Best for 1:1 appointments and consultations |
Note: You can create both types in the same booking calendar — for example, a Fixed session for your monthly group workshop and an Open slot for individual consultations.
Create an event
Once you know which event type you need, creating the event itself only takes a few minutes.
Describe your event and review the summary
Start from a suggested example or type your own description in the Ask for a change... field. Jimdo fills in the description, price, location, and timeline (cancellation deadline, registration deadline, event duration, break time) automatically. Click the edit icon on any card to adjust it manually.
Note: The price you enter here uses your account currency. For more information, see Accept payments with Jimdo Bookings.
Note: Nothing is saved until you finish creating the event. You can also skip the Ask for a change... field entirely and fill in every card yourself.
Select Fixed session or Open slot
Click the edit icon on the Event type card and choose Fixed session or Open slot (see above for what each one means), then click Done.
Note: The summary also shows a Seats field once you've chosen your event type, defining how many people can book the same session.
Set the timing
What you see next depends on the event type you chose:
- Fixed session: set the date, start and end time, optionally turn on Recurring event, and use + Add new appointment for additional sessions. A live Preview panel shows your selections on a calendar.
- Open slot: set your available hours for each day of the week. Days without hours are marked Unavailable by default — use + to add a time range, or add a second range per day (e.g. morning and afternoon).
Choose how you want to be paid
This step is the same for both event types:
- Online (Recommended) — get paid easily, quickly, and securely through Jimdo
- In-person — arrange payment directly with your customer yourself
Create your event
Click Create event to publish it. You can always go back and adjust any detail — including switching between Fixed session and Open slot — later.
