FAQ
Can I edit an invoice after it has been finalized
No. Once finalized, an invoice is locked and cannot be edited. This supports structured and traceable invoice workflows. You can duplicate the invoice and create a corrected version.
Can I delete invoices
You can only delete invoices that are still in draft status. All other invoices cannot be deleted, and you can archive them manually.
To archive an invoice, go to your invoice overview. Open the three dots menu next to the invoice and select the archive option.
Archived invoices are not removed permanently. You can access them again from the archive section and unarchive them at any time.
How does invoice numbering work
Invoice numbers are automatically generated based on a prefix and sequence you choose. They are unique and cannot be reused.
Can I send invoices directly from Jimdo
Yes. You can send invoices automatically using the Issue and send option or download them as a PDF with XML file and send them manually via your preferred email provider.
Can customers pay invoices online
Yes. You can offer your customers online payment using payment links.
You can create a payment link and share it with your customer. Your customer can then use this link to pay the invoice online. To send payment links, you need to connect to a payment service provider like Stripe.
For detailed steps on how to create and use payment links, see this guide: Open guide
What happens when an invoice is overdue
The status changes to Overdue once the due date has passed and the invoice is not marked as paid.
If you manually mark an invoice as paid, its status will not change to Overdue. Only invoices with the status Finalized or Sent can become Overdue.
Can I use multiple tax rates in one invoice
No. Currently, only one tax rate per invoice is supported.
Does Jimdo validate tax rates or VAT IDs
No. You must enter and manage tax rates and VAT IDs yourself.
How long are invoices stored
Invoice data is stored for 10 years.
What formats can I export invoices in
You can export invoices as PDF with XML file, ZUGFeRD, or XRechnung.
