If you don't want to accept online payments for a while, you can pause payments yourself in your dashboard and switch them back on at any time. Closing your payment setup completely is permanent and can only be done by our Support team. This article explains the difference and what to do in each case.
In this article:
Pause or close: what's the difference?
Note: This article applies if you set up payments directly in your Jimdo dashboard. If you connected your own Stripe account, you manage your payments in Stripe.
- Pause payments: You do this yourself in your dashboard. While payments are paused, your customers can't pay online in your store, for bookings, via payment links or for invoices. You can switch payments back on at any time.
- Close your payment setup: Only our Support team can do this. Closing is permanent and can't be undone.
If you only want to stop taking payments for a while, pause them instead of closing your payment setup.
Pause payments
- Log in to your Jimdo account and open your dashboard.
- Go to Payments > Settings.
- Under Stop taking payments, click Pause payments, then Confirm and pause.
Pausing payments doesn't stop payouts. Money your customers already paid is still paid out as normal.
Switch payments back on
- Go to Payments > Settings.
- Click Resume payments, then Confirm and resume.
Note: Your payment terms stay in place while payments are paused, so you don't need to set up payments again.
Close your payment setup
If you want to stop using payments in Jimdo for good, contact our Support team and ask them to close your payment setup.
- Closing is permanent and can't be undone.
- If you have more than one website, each website is closed separately. Tell us which website you want to close.
Important: Before you contact Support, make sure you have handled any open refunds and checked your payouts.
What happens if I cancel my Jimdo plan?
Cancelling your Jimdo plan doesn't close your payment setup. If you also want to close your payment setup, contact our Support team.
