How to Create a Screenshot
Please select the operating system of the device you are using:
Windows
Microsoft Windows is the most common operating system (OS). The most widely used versions are Windows 10 (released 2015) and Windows 11 (released 2021).
Creating a screenshot
The easiest way to create a screenshot on Windows is the built-in Snipping Tool.
1. Open the Snipping Tool by pressing:
⊞ Windows + ⇧ Shift + S
2. Select the area you want to capture. The screenshot is saved to your clipboard.
3. Paste it where needed with Ctrl + V.
MacOS

1. Press:
⇧ Shift + ⌘ Command + 4
2. A thumbnail appears briefly in the corner of your screen.
Where to find it
Click the thumbnail to edit, or wait for the screenshot to save to your Desktop.
iPhone/iPad
Creating a screenshot
1. Press simultaneously:
Power Button + Volume Up
2. The screen flashes briefly.
Where to find it
Open Photos > Albums > Media Types > Screenshots.
Android
Creating a screenshot
1. Press simultaneously:
Power Button + Volume Down
2. The screen flashes briefly.
Where to find it
Open your Photos/Gallery app and go to Library > Screenshots.
ChromeOS
Take a full-screen screenshot
1. Press:
Ctrl + Show windows
The “Show windows” key looks like a rectangle with two lines beside it.
Take a partial screenshot
1. Press:
Ctrl + ⇧ Shift + Show windows
2. Your cursor becomes a crosshair to select an area.
Where to find it
Captures and screenshots are saved in the Downloads folder.
Linux
Creating a screenshot
1. Press:
Alt + PrtScn
This shortcut captures your active window.
Where to find it
The file is saved in your Pictures folder (depending on your desktop environment).
